Puppy left in woods

AN ABANDONED puppy has been named Ness - but she is certainly no monster!

The eight-week old Rottweiler-cross was given the unusual name because she was found at Wilderness Wood, Hadlow Down.

She is now in the safe hands of the Kit Wilson Trust, which is also based in the village.

Ness has a problem with her tendons and is midway through her jabs and the trust vets think she will recover. They will take her splint off today (Friday].

The trust took in nine other puppies over the new year so Ness will have plenty of playmates as soon as she is able to move around.

It's been assumed that Ness was abandoned, given her age, the manner in which she was found and the fact that her condition was going to incur vet bills.

Staff at the animal centre were horrified not only at the cruelty of leaving a defenceless puppy in woodland but the fact that she could have wandered onto a busy stretch of the A272 and caused a major accident.

Anybody who is interested in becoming the owner of one of the dogs cared for at the trust should in the first instance phone 01825 830444 to be entered on the charity's register of prospective owners.

They will then be visited at home by an assessor and if all is well the owner pays a visit to the trust where hopefully a match is made.
