Rolls-Royce to launch new Phantom model at Goodwood

Rolls-Royce has announced the arrival of its revamped flagship car in the wake of expansion of its Goodwood site.

The Phantom series II will be unveiled at its production facilities today (Tuesday, March 6), amid a world-wide media spotlight. It is set to make its debut this week at the Geneva motor show.

Its designers have hailed the re-styled car as a logical progression from its present Phantom model, which was launched by parent company BMW in 2003.

Among the key features are new LED main lights, revisions to its rear styling and freshly-styled wheels and enhanced 8 speed gear shift.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony, manufacturing director Jorg Bause said that Rolls-Royce had stayed true to the spirit of the company in forging some subtle changes to the much-celebrated Phantom model.

He said: “We have listened to our customers wishes- they said do not change the Phantom too much as it is already an icon. There have been a lot of technological advances that have been made since the car was first launched and we have made extensive upgrades. But the new car is unmistakably a Phantom which is why we decided to call it the series two.”

Torsten Müller-Ötvös, CEO of Rolls-Royce said: “These cars are timeless in their appeal, but technology moves rapidly and we cannot afford to stand still.

“Today I am delighted to present Phantom Series II, a family of models that feature significant improvements in design, drive-train and technology. As a consequence of these changes, we will continue to present with pride the best motor cars in the world, which re-confirm Rolls-Royce’s position at the very pinnacle of the ultra-luxury goods marketplace.”

The first series two Phantoms are expected to be delivered to dealerships in June and will be available with a wide range of bespoke options.
