Rowers' new home dream comes true

IT'S been a long time coming - but now Bexhill Rowing Club has its new boathouse and the doors were unoffically opened at the weekend.

Members of all ages were delighted to look over their new home and for some this was their first opportunity to see where they will be training hard in preparation for next season.

For others this was a moment they looked forward to during many years of toil, anguish and effort towards getting the club’s dream realised.

Graham Dawes, Bexhill Rowing Club chairman, and president Gerald Matthews were delighted the building would see the club through to the next century with this new impressive facility for the rowers of Bexhill-on-Sea.

New captain Nick McCorry said that with the new spacious boathouse and its modern equipment now ready for use, the club is primed and ready for even more success in the future.

Active members who attended were of all ages, from 14 to 79, and all had positive comments about the building and its interior.

Rower and fundraiser Matt Hellier afterwards told the Observer: “It was brilliant. It is just great to see the club up and running and useable now.
