School says goodbye to retiring head

It was the end of an era at Bodiam Primary School last week as headteacher Rosalyn Ziebell said goodbye after nine years at the helm.

Rosalyn, known as Roz, enjoyed a farewell medieval hog roast with pupils, parents and staff, followed by a party for colleagues and friends who had worked with her over the last 30 years.

Roz said she "very much enjoyed my time at Bodiam".

She said: "I couldn't wish for a more dedicated staff and board of governors, all working hard to raise standards while at the same time, making sure the children are happy, safe and enjoying their education.

"Bodiam comes at the end of a 30-year career of working in East Sussex schools and it was lovely to meet up with old colleagues and friends on Friday evening and I was pleased that so many could come to our medieval afternoon."

As a goodbye present, the school presented Roz with a cheque to buy a computer and scanner, which she says will enable her to save and organise all her old photographs.

New headteacher Margaret Williams will take over the reigns in September, in partnership with Etchingham School.

Addressing parents, Roz said: "Once again, thank you for your support over the past nine years.

"The school cannot successfully educate your children without it.

"I hope you will continue to encourage your children to do their best, so that they make the most of all the opportunities that Bodiam has to offer.

"I wish you and your families all the best for the future and it has been a privilege to work with you all."
