Schools reopen as thaw begins

MOST schools in the Gazette area reopened today (Monday, January 11) as weather conditions began to show some improvement.

Yapton Primary School remains closed, and St Philip Howard Catholic High School is open only for year 11 and sixth-form students.

The county council says that all schools in West Sussex with a sixth form will be conducting examinations scheduled to take place this week.

"Sixth-form students sitting a paper should make arrangements to arrive in good time for the examination. School transport may not be available and families are encouraged to have a contingency plan. Any difficulty in arriving for the exam should be reported to the school," a county council spokesman said.
