Senlac Scouts launch new local award

A COMMUNITY Citizenship Award has been launched by the Senlac District Scout Council Public Relations Committee to encourage good citizenship.

There will be an annual presentation of an engraved silver salver, as well as runner-up medals and certificates.

The award will be to acknowledge outstanding individual self-motivation and recorded actions.

Classifications for the award will be: Achievement, Courage and Endurance, Endeavour, Commitment, Leadership, Service, Patience and Adversity, Others Before Self in Risk Situation.

There will be an annual assessment of individual citations submitted between July 2010 and June 2011, by Section Leaders (Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts and Explorer Scouts).

An independent panel of Youth Opportunities Committee Senlac Rotary Club Rotarians will consider all citations submitted and make judgements accordingly.

A presentation evening will be organised for selected recipients to attend with leaders, parents, guests and panel selection members during September each year. Presentations to be made by a notable dignitary.
