Shops add festive magic

RYE shops will be offering a window into Christmas when they take part in the Best Dressed Window Competition.

The public are invited to judge the windows from Saturday December 3 and enter the draw to win a table for four at a Rye restaurant.

Entry forms can be obtained from Rye Tourist Information Centre in Lion Street and the Heritage Centre at Strand Quay on December 3.

That Saturday also sees the launch of Rye’s Christmas Festival and the switching on of the Christmas lights, which takes place outside the George, in the High Street at 5pm. This will be followed by a firework display.

Festival organiser Roger Crouch, said: “Take the trail of the list of shops that have entered, judge for yourself the best and take your form back to the Tourist Information Centre or Heritage Centre. The draw will be made on Saturday December 10.

Father Christmas will be leading a colourful procession through the town on Saturday December 10 and the reindeers will be making a popular return on that day.

Children will be able to meet the reindeer at a Christmas Market at Strand Quay..
