Students' big screen dreams come true

BUDDING film makers from Willingdon Community School were due to screen their work Thursday.

The students have worked during the summer holidays to create films with professional film artist Nick Pilton.

All the films were scripted, directed, shot and edited by the youngsters and shown at the Curzon Cinema in Eastbourne.

Beth Sratford, 14, was one of the students working on the films. She said: 'I probably wouldn't be doing anything if I wasn't here. Coming

up with ideas and working together is really good fun.'

Inspiration for the project came from the students' hobbies and the local area.

Marina Castledine, community arts development officer at the school, said: 'It has been hugely rewarding to develop this film project.

'Knowing there is something creative and positive locally for young people to do and working in partnership with other professionals who share similar goals, is always enjoyable.'

The youngsters raised money for the project with an application to the Young Opportunities Fund.
