STUDENTS PIPPED AT THE POST

STUDENTS from Uckfield Community Technology College have been pipped at the post in a young consumer competition.

The college came second in the East Sussex final of the Young Consumers of the Year competition.

It was beaten by William Parker School, Hastings, at the event held at Eastbourne Town Hall.

Chailey School and Eastbourne Technology College also took part.

The national competition is organised locally by East Sussex County Council's Trading Standards Service and the four teams that contested the county final came through a preliminary round.

Team members have to study topics ranging from consumer rights and responsibilities to safety and the environment.
