Teachers go back to the classrooms

Overseas teachers have been in Felpham to go back to college.

The latest group of visitors from China have become fully involved in life at Felpham Community College.

Among them was Zhang Binke. He said: “Students are learning something by doing instead of memorising.

“This is an interesting contrast to my own experiences of teaching and learning.”

The teachers helped in food technology classes, shadowed teaching assistants and presented to key stage four students.

The presence of the foreign teachers has resulted from the college’s link with the University of Chichester to show those from other countries how the English education system works. More teachers from China are due as well as America and Germany.

Mark Anstiss, the college’s headteacher, said: “We have been able to assist foreign teachers in gaining hands-on experience of our education system.

“The scheme has also enabled us to build more links that celebrate diversity.”
