Team keeps itsnerve to wincharity match

The 1066 Specials Football Club took on Lloyds bank in order to raise much needed funds.

The sun shone at Sedlescombe FC for the event which featured two games.

1066 FC’s adults and teenagers drew the first game in an exciting and well contested affair.

But the game went to penalties with the 1066 Specials taking the honours.

A second game featured a fun match between the staff and the children of 1066 Specials FC.

Fiona Kavanagh-Deeprose, secretary of 1066 Specials Football Club, said “Everyone had a fantastic day and really enjoyed themselves.

“This was a great opportunity for everyone to have some fun and raise funds for the club at the same time.”

Event organisers, Brian Cook and Liam Adams of Lloyds Bank in Hastings added: “The day went extremely well and was well supported.

“We are already talking about repeating this again next year and even possibly making it an annual event.

“We would like to thank Sedlescombe FC for the use of their facilities, Paul Cook for refereeing, Tim Olorunda for presenting the medals and everyone who helped to make the day such a success.”

The 1066 Specials Football Club has come a long way in just a few short years. Founded in the spring of 2003 the club was the brainchild of Harold Lawrence who was influenced by his nephew, Martin Forsdyke, who played for Brighton and Hove Albion’s ‘Special Seagulls’ team.
