A FILM made by students from Buckingham Middle School and Shoreham College has scooped an award at a film festival in Brighton.

The Cellar Door, which earlier this year won the best horror/thriller category in the National First Light Awards, took the best cinematography and best overall film sections at the DBK Film Festival.

The screenings and awards ceremony were held on Easter Sunday at the Sallis Benney Theatre in Brighton.

The film tells the story of a group of pupils who decide to miss a maths test and hide in the school cellar instead.

Things soon start to go wrong and then they disappear one by one.

It was filmed on location in the cellars beneath Shoreham College and was funded by Hi8us First Light, which promotes and supports young film makers.

The children were also helped by Brighton-based company Junk TV.
