Udimore

CONGRATULATIONS: to Sheila and Richard Corke on the birth of their second grandchild, George Oliver Warren, two weeks early, on Good Friday, and to his parents Alison and Glenn, whose daughter Jessica now has a little brother.

EASTER SERVICES: We’re very grateful to Fr John Lee for once again taking our services both on Good Friday (when a small group of us gathered in the Hall) and on Easter Sunday (which was celebrated in our beautifully decorated and newly upholstered church by a large congregation). Having discussed with us the theme of personal bereavement on Friday afternoon, Fr John used the theme of Easter eggs on Sunday morning to remind us that the Easter message of renewal and reconciliation is there for us all if we choose to accept it.

The new upholstery, by the way, has been provided on the initiative of the Friends of St Mary’s: it takes the form of a new seating cushion for every pew in the nave. The Friends have already received several generous donations towards the cost of their provision. If you would be interested in dedicating one of these cushions in memory of a loved one, please ring Liz Turgoose (01424 882657).

SERVICES THIS SUNDAY: In St Mary’s Holy Communion will be celebrated at 8am. At 11.15am the monthly Family Service for All will be followed by refreshments in the Hall.

UDIMORE GARDEN SAFARI: In case you’ve been puzzled by a discrepancy on page 11 of this month’s Parish Magazine, I can confirm that the date of the Safari is definitely Saturday May 30 (1.30 - 5.30pm). A lovely time of the year for gardens, so please be sure to keep the afternoon free!

MOBILE LIBRARY: On Wednesday (April 15) the Hall will be open for coffee (or tea) for an hour from 11.30am onwards, to coincide with the Library’s visit (11.45-12.15). It’s hoped that plenty of people will support this venture, making it a regular 3-weekly social get-together (with the added advantage of browsing through the Library’s current stock of books, DVDs and audiobooks while you’re there).

YOGA CLASSES: Besides the regular two series of classes in the Hall, Vinyasa Yoga (Mondays 9.30- 10.45am) and more conventional Yoga (Fridays 9.30-11am), there will also be a free “ taster session” for those who would like to find out more about Yoga, in the Hall at 10.15am next Saturday (April 18). If you’d like to take Laura Leslie up on this kind offer, please ring her to let her know you’re hoping to be there (01797 227564 or 07580 984539).
