The event launched yesterday (Tuesday, July 22) at Arundel Castle.

The contest is the longest of its kind, and the largest in Europe. As the tournament enters its sixth year at Arundel Castle, rivalries between teams and nations are fiercer than ever; ensuring the toughest fought competition to date.

Team England begins the competition as the reigning champion and they have been fighting hard to retain this title.

Challenging them will be determined French opponents who are looking to win, having never claimed victory despite competing at Arundel Castle on five occasions.

Castle manager Bryan McDonald said: “The International Jousting and Medieval Tournament is always my personal highlight of the castle’s events calendar, as I’m sure it is for many of our visitors.

“The passion and skill brought by each of these knights from around the world is palpable, and combined with the prestige of the competition, makes for a tremendously entertaining event.”

Prices for castle admission and the joust start from £10 for children, £22 for adults and £49 for families. Children under five go free.

The competition runs until Sunday, July 27.
