Villagers worried over hospital's future

More than 90 per cent of people in Ditchling are opposed to any downgrade of the Princess Royal Hospital at Haywards Heath.

And 85% of village residents believe that the huge sums of money being poured into the NHS are being spent in the wrong way, with only two per cent saying funds are being spent correctly.

The figures come from a detailed questionnaire carried out by MP Norman Baker and the Lib Dems across Ditchling.

A total of 650 questionnaires were delivered by Lib Dems of which 133 were returned, producing a response rate of 20%.

Mr Baker said: 'It is clear that residents of Ditchling are unhappy with both the national and local management of the NHS, particularly the ominous plans for the Princess Royal.'
