Woman badly hurt in town centre crash

A FEMALE pedestrian was seriously hurt in Buckhurst Place on Thursday evening last week after she and a Hyundai saloon car were in collision.

The 59-year-old woman suffered arm and leg fractures and was taken to the Conquest Hospital, where she was detained for treatment. Her injuries were not thought to be life-threatening.

A Sussex Police spokesman said: “The Roads Policing Unit at Polegate is asking anyone who saw the collision, which occurred at about 5.15pm, to contact officers via 0845 60 70 999, quoting Operation Sherborne.

“A 66-year-old woman who was driving the Hyundai car, who is also from Bexhill, was uninjured.

“She was arrested on suspicion of careless driving and driving with defective eyesight, and subsequently bailed without charge until December 14 while police enquiries continue.”

No other vehicles or people were involved in the collision.
