Police said a woman returned to her home in Den Avenue, Bognor Regis, around 9.35am on Thursday (November 26) to find the curtains were drawn.

A spokesman added: “On entering the property, she spotted a man on the stairs and following an exchange of words, she punched him in the face.

“A tussle ensued in the hallway before the man made off from the scene towards Hotham Park, having stolen a red Nike rucksack, a Sat Nav, two iPad minis, an Xbox limited edition console with controller, Turtle Beach ear force headset and £40 cash.

“Earlier that day, at about 9am, a man matching the same description attempted to gain entry to the rear of another house in the same road. He was spotted in the garden with a jacket in one hand and a hammer in the other, and he ran back towards Den Avenue after being disturbed by the female occupant.”

Detective Constable Emma Fields said: “Following the second incident, the victim went outside to see where the suspect went and noticed there was a bus at the bus stop on the corner of Den Avenue and the High Street. The suspect walked off towards Butlins and Hotham Park.

“It is possible anyone on that bus, or in the area, may have seen him.”
