Min Raisman from fit2cook, which runs the competition, said: “Sian and Roshana are very skilful cooks. Their saffron broth inspired by Roshana’s Indian background was beautifully favoured.”

The judges were particularly impressed with the girls use of local produce.

For their recipe the duo used eggs from Sian’s chickens and produce from their local Middleton farm shop.

Also winning a place in the next stage of the competition were fellow Felpham students Rebecca Wood and Maddie Young who cooked a lovely chicken roulade stuffed with goats cheese and spinach plus a strawberry cream tart.

The regional final will be held on June 21.
