Children from schools across Hastings dressed up as their favourite fictional characters to celebrate World Book Day last Thursday.

The popular event, which encourages reading and love of books, was first held in 1995.

It is supported by publishers, National Book Tokens Ltd and literacy partnerships. All children taking part receive a book token on the day.
