Booth off the bench to deny Hornets

Paul Booth's 28th goal of the season proved decisive as the Rooks reached the semi final of the Sussex Senior Cup with a hard fought win against the Hornets.

Booth came off the bench to score the winning goal in the last ever game between the two sides at Queen Street.

Lewes had taken the lead just before the half-hour mark when a Simon Wormull ball over the Horsham defence set up Dale Binns to score his first goal for the club.

The home side equalised with 20 minutes to go when a Gary Charman cross was flicked on to Jacob Mingle who arrived right on cur to volley in from close range.

However, just when the Hornets were looking good to inflict their first win over their local rivals in 14 attempts, up popped the predatory Booth. The striker was first on to a knock down from Gary Holloway following a Jay Conroy cross.

Lewes: Williams, Conroy, Hamilton, Robinson, Legge, Binns, Kennett, Holloway, Davis, Drury (Wormull 21), Sigere (Booth 70).
