Cooden Beach hosts absorbing Pro-Am

COODEN Beach Golf Club hosted an absorbing day's play when the PGA Southern Region Pro-Am Tournament took over the course on Friday.

The title went to Chelsfield Lakes professional Gavin Lingard whose superb round of 67 got the better of Alan Lovelace (Merrist Wood) and Richard Silman (Staplehurst) in joint second place with 68.

In joint fourth spot former Ryder Cup star Paul Way recorded a round of 70 alongside former Cooden assistant pro Giles Velvick (Horam Park) and Michael Walker (Effingham). Cooden Beach professionals, being the perfect hosts, did not fare quite so well with Shaun Creasey notching a round of 75 and Jeff Sim scoring 80.
