Bexhill will entertain Preston Nomads at The Polegrove tomorrow (Saturday) buoyed by two wins and a decent draw in their last three matches.

First team manager Jeff Chinn said: “We’re looking forward to Preston Nomads, who we think we can at least compete with.

“With the wickets hardening up as they should do now with this mini-heatwave, we could have a nice hard wicket which will suit our spinners more than their seamers.”

Bexhill currently occupy the final safe spot of eighth with a 25-point cushion above the two relegation places. Third-placed Nomads are 17 points adrift of leaders Roffey.

Nomads triumphed by two wickets in a low scoring reverse fixture back in May, albeit only thanks to an unbroken ninth wicket partnership of 28 which rescued them from 59-8.

“We’re only 20-odd points from fourth place,” continued Chinn. “Anybody on their day can go against anybody - I think it’s the most open league we’ve had in a long time.”
