Darts singles final are a knockout at Bognor

Division two saw 31 players take to the oche.

The early rounds saw some good matches and one notable match was for Jack Danahar (QE2 Stiffs) in the quarter-finals. He started with a 120 in-shot, scored a 180 and finished the leg in 14 darts, but he still didn’t make it past Mike Hales (Claremont).

The first semi-final saw brotherly rivalry when Mike and Nick Hales (Claremont) did battle. Mike got off to a great start and proceeded to the final.

The second semi saw Wayne Wadsworth (Wheatsheaf) go out to Andy Whiteley (QE2 Stiffs).

In the final, Whiteley took the first leg and carried on in the same vein to land the champion title.

In division one, 35 players fancied their chances.

After some big-name players went out, the first semi-final saw Courtney Wilson and Rob Misselbrook (Hunston Club) each took one of the first two legs before Wilson took the decider.

The second semi-final saw another POW fight with Cliff Prior against Lee Clark, with Prior coming out on top.

The final saw Wilson and Prior both get a great start with Prior hitting 120 and Wilson 100. Prior continued his form by taking the first leg in 20 darts. Wilson started the second leg with 112 and finished in 16 darts. Wilson took the lead by claiming the third leg.

The fourth leg saw Wilson get the early start as Prior struggled to get in. Two tons put Wilson into a great lead, but scores of 125, 135 and 140 brought Prior back into the leg.

Wilson hit the wire on double 16 to give Prior the same chance, which he took with two darts.

Prior started the last leg with a massive 152 in-shot. Seventeen darts later, with Wilson breathing down his neck after two tons, Prior took the double to end the game and take the title of division-one champion.

PERFECT 10 LEAGUE

The Perfect 10 Dart League will be starting again on April 27.

Last year’s group winners Craig Stoner and Rob Collins will be meeting this year as the top eight players from both groups will form the new division one and the lower eight players will become this year’s division two.

With four players going up to division one and four coming down, it makes for a very competitive league for both divisions. Some of the top players in Sussex will be going head to head over the ten-leg format to see who really does have the perfect game.

Matches will be played at Chichester Snooker Club every Monday through to August 31 and will this year also include further singles knockout competitions.

There will be some places available this year and the popularity of the league means there will be a signing-on night at the snooker club on April 13 (8pm) which will also feature a knockout with cash prizes.

Anyone wanting to play needs to go to the signing-on night and enter the draw for the available places. Entry to the league is £50 per player and anyone interested in playing should contact Ben Marley via the Perfect 10 League Facebook group.
