Fabulous Fisher lands Euro squash title

At the European masters individual squash championships in Prague, the long-standing player and trustee at Chichester Racquets and Fitness Club won the men’s over-70s title.

More than 500 players, including representatives from almost every European nation, were in Prague for the various age catagories, which are separated by five-year intervals. They run from over-35 to over-75.

Eight countries were represented in the over-70 draw and having played for England at over-65 over the past five years, this was Fisher’s first event at over-70.

Seeded at No1, he dropped only one game throughout the tournament, beating Finnish No 1 Berti Walli 11-5, 11-8, 11-7 in the final.

Fisher now hopes to be selected for England over-70s.
