Michy Batshuayi crumpled to the floor on 18 minutes following the slightest of contacts from Brighton defender Tariq Lamptey after Andros Townsend's cross into the box.
Referee Stuart Atwell pointed to the spot and VAR backed the decision after a brief check. Wilfried Zaha easily converted from the spot to hand Palace a 1-0 lead.
Brighton pushed forward after the break and deservedly levelled late on when Alexis Mac Allister came off the bench to net his first Premier League goal.
Batshuayi also had a second half strike disallowed for a narrow offside call.

1. Maty Ryan 6/10
Had very little to do other than pick the ball out of the net from the penalty. Relieved to see Michy Batshuayi's second half goal chalked off for offside. Good with his distribution. Booked for trying to delay the penalty
2. Ben White 7/10
Played almost as a defensive midfielder and looked very comfortable in the role. Covered the ground well and made important blocks and tackles
3. Lewis Dunk 4/10
Red carded for a two-footed tackle at the end on Gary Cahill as he tried to scramble to ball home in the penalty box. Kept the Albion forwards well shackled
4. Adam Webster 6/10
Perhaps slightly out position for the penalty but hard to place too much blame on Webster for that one. Solid defensively.
