League One outfit Portsmouth continue their search for a new manager with former two Brighton aces among the contenders for the Fratton Park hot-seat.

Portsmouth parted ways with their previous manager Danny Cowley on January 2 after a poor run of form saw them slump down the league standings. It was a tough decision for the Pompey board as Cowley was quite popular with a section of the fans but the club decided to act before they slipped further away from the League play-off spots. A number of high-profile and also some lesser knowns names have been linked with the vacant post as the club search for the right person capable of reversing their fortunes this season. Former AFC Wimbledon man Simon Bassey has been in temporary charge and last weekend took his team to Tottenham where they narrowly lost 1-0 in the FA Cup to the Premier League club. Bassey will now prepare his men for tonight’s trip to Bolton in the Football League Trophy – and they then take on Bolton once more in the league this Saturday at Fratton Park.

It could be Bassey’s last match in charge – but who are the leading candidates to take charge? Sussex World looks at the latest odds from BetVictor.com, which includes two very familiar faces for Brighton fans
