Burgess Hill manager Ian Chapman gives his reaction

And conceding the third goal and getting a man sent-off killed off his side’s hopes of making their first ever appearance in the First Round of the FA Cup.

Chapman said: “At half-time at 3-1 down and having lost a man it was a case of do we either just sit behind the ball and have the odd chance or go for it.

“I felt if we went for it we could get a proper hiding so we decided to make it difficult for them and I thought we did that and even hit the post.

“We are pleased with how well we’ve done.

“It was important how we reacted after being 3-1 down.

“Their forward pushed our player and then scored. There were little bits and pieces which didn’t go our way with the assistant referee but it was 3-1 and there’s no argument.

“The first 20 minutes we were very nervous. For many of our players it was the biggest game they had ever played.

“Dartford’s front men were very good and we didn’t deal with it well enough. They have a bit more quality and movement and that’s why they are in the Conference Premier and not our division.

“Our centre half Pearsy (Andy Pearson) who has been brilliant all season passed to straight to their centre forward which is something he hasn’t done in 21 games this season.

“But you just have to move on from that!”
