FA award for thriving Steyning Town

The club was formed in May following the merger of Steyning Town and Steyning Strikers to form one leading club for the whole town.

Key to achieving this status is a development plan focusing on key areas of improvement such as raising footballing standards, developing better players, developing volunteers and improving facilities which fit in really well with the plans already underway at Steyning Town.

Steyning now have a huge 16 teams with 23 Level 1 coaches and six Level 2 coaches, who are currently going through the FA Level 3 course.

The accolade adds to the Safeguarding Stars award which Steyning Town received in 2013 and chairman Carol Swain said: “The club is going from strength to strength and this award is well deserved recognition for all the hard work going on in the background by many people at the club.”

The club has recently announced the forming of two new girls teams this season, and under-nine and under-12 side and the club has recently been awarded a brand new kit from the Premier League Player’s kit scheme, making them the first to adopt the new club colours of red and white stripes.

Both teams are being managed by Neil Vigar and play friendlies in preparation for joining the Sussex County Girls Football League in 2014/15. Those interested in joining these teams should contact Neil on 07814557381.
