Not many players at Crawley Town have had to adapt as much as Nick Tsaroulla.

The 24-year-old was signed by the Reds in October 2020 after coming through the youth ranks at Tottenham Hotspur and a spell with Brentford B. His career in football was threatened following horror car crash which caused serious injury and he was out of the game for a while.

But he started his career again at the Broadfield Stadium and for Crawley Town fans, the rest is history. He cemented his name in Reds folklore with a stunning strike against then-Premier League Leeds United in the famous 3-0 FA Cup win in 2021.

And after consistently performing well, he is one of the first names on Scott Lindsey’s team sheet. The manager even said last week, Tsaroulla is ‘as good as anyone in the league’.

But it hasn’t been an easy ride for Tsaroulla. He has been through six managers in three years – including seeing the man who signed him, John Yems, part way with the club after discrimination charges ended in the former boss being banned from football until 2026.

And since January, Tsaroulla has seen the squad completely change with Lindsey rebuilding for what he wants to do to try and improve where Crawley finish this season. But for the left back-turned-winger, he has taken it all in his stride.

“As a human being, you make close friendships, those people are there for you, you build bonds, you learn each other’s personalities,” he said. “We spent a lot of time together, playing, but I feel I am quite good at adapting. Last season we had five managers, I was able to adapt to all five of them and perform at a level I was still pleased with. This season it’s the same thing but just with players, I think that’s part of football isn’t it? You are never going to be part of the same team for the rest of your career.

"It’s all about adapting and I am fortunate that this group of players are really good and really talented. It’s good to play with them.”

And he has been very impressed with the additions Lindsey has made. “Two people who spring to mind, Liam Kelly is a real talent and Jay Williams, I think has been unbelievable, absolutely outstanding. Will Wright has started well from the get go. I have known Dan [Orsi] for a long time, his brother is my best mate, I grew up with him so he was a familiar face anyway. But the other three who I had not met before have come in with a bang and hopefully they can stay injury free and continue to do what they are doing.”

The Reds fan favourite was delighted with the words from Lindsey saying he is one of the best in the league. But was else does Tsaroulla think he needs to improve on?

He said: "It was kind words of him. Every time I play I will always give my best. There are a few little things I want to continue to work on but I don’t want to share too much because the opposition might see it and know what I am going to do.

"I always go back and analyse game and be critical. The gaffer tells me things he wants as well but the main thing is when I play for him he knows I am going to give everything I have got for him and the fans know I will give everything I have got for them as well. That’s what I make sure I am doing every week.”
