Kane targets key acquisition

Hastings United manager Nigel Kane is hopeful of signing a player he believes could make a real difference to the football club’s fortunes.

If successful, the man in question could feature in the crunch Ryman Football League Division One South relegation scrap at home to Horsham on Saturday.

Kane said: “There’s a possibility of another new signing and I’m quite hopeful that we will pull it off. If it comes off, he will make a big difference to the squad.”

Attacking player Evan Archibald, meanwhile, has joined Macron Store Sussex County Football League Division One leaders Dorking Wanderers having recently turned down interest from Horsham.

Kane said: “They offered him significantly more money than what we were prepared to offer him and we need players that are committed to the cause.”
