After a last-minute 2-1 defeat at AFC Uckfield on Saturday, Gaskin was delighted with his side’s response.

Rob Hutchings tapped home Scott Packer’s cross to give Golds a tenth-minute lead, before Packer was again the provider for Gaskin to make it 2-0 on 26 minutes.

Paul Elliott’s volley got United back into the game seven minutes into the second half but Littlehampton moved 3-1 ahead 19 minutes from time.

Gaskin was tripped in the penalty area and Mitchell Hand scored from the spot.

Hand netted his second spot-kick on 77 minutes after Shaun Charles was brought down by Grant Philpott, who was sent off. Gaskin then completed the scoring from sub Sam Leggatt’s pass on 83 minutes.

Gaskin said: “It was a great response after Saturday and everyone was excellent.”
