Munday has been given the task of replacing Kenny McCreadie, who was de-selected as boss of the Sussex County Football League Division Two club after a committee vote just over two weeks ago.

Bexhill chairman Bill Harrison said: “It was a tough decision because we had some very good candidates. There were a lot of managers with good CVs, but I think we’ve chosen the right one for the club.

“It’s his first job as a manager, but he’s a local lad, he’s honest, he’s got a lot of enthusiasm and I think he’ll get a good squad next year. I’m sure he will do a good job and I think it could be exciting.”

Harrison expects Bexhill to field a more local team next season under Munday, who was a regular fixture in the Bexhill side which came fourth in Division Two during the 2010/11 season - their highest placing this century.

“I would think it will probably be a more local side,” Harrison added. “I think it’s important for a club like Bexhill they’ve got people they can relate to playing for them.”

Munday, a whole-hearted midfielder and sometimes defender, has also played senior football for the likes of Rye United, Sidley United and Eastbourne Town.
