U’s target senior cup progress

Hastings United will seek a swift response to their weekend disappointment tonight (Tuesday).

The U’s will be determined to put the 4-0 league defeat away to Metropolitan Police behind them when they visit Crawley Down in round three of the Sussex Senior Cup.

United are 15th in the Ryman Football League Premier Division, while last season’s Sussex County League champions Crawley Down are third-bottom of Ryman Division One South.

Jamie Crellin, pictured, is back from suspension for United and player-manager Sean Ray was hoping to make his comeback from injury having been among the substitutes on Saturday.

Matt Armstrong-Ford is expected to take over the goalkeeper’s gloves from Lloyd Anderson, while Billy Medlock, who impressed after coming on against Met Police, is cup-tied. Kick-off is 7.30pm.

United will be attempting to join Brighton & Hove Albion reserves, Lewes, Eastbourne Borough and Whitehawk in the quarter-finals. One other last 16 tie is taking place tonight and the other two will follow over the next week.

A summary of the match will appear on this website tomorrow morning.
