As the Herald and Gazette reported three weeks ago, the Rustington Otters under-tens decided to make up for the loss of their own cup final because of the pandemic by walking and running ‘to Wembley’.
Their own Road To Wembley featured players and parents, along with coach Christian Justice, each covering a distance of 57 miles – the distance from Rustington Otters HQ to the home of football, Wembley Stadium.

The great news is they are on course to pass their mileage target, which is 1,300 miles, and they have smashed their original fundraising target of £500.
Christian told us: “The running total is £1,635
“The number of miles covered is more than 1,100 with a couple to finish which will take us to the 1,300 when they complete.”
Hannah Foster, mum of the team’s goalkeeper Mason, said: “The team have loved being outdoors walking, running and training knowing it’s for such a great cause.
“The support they have had has been fantastic – we are all so proud of the team. With gift aid added, the grand fundraising total will be £1,880 for cancer research.”
