Friday series ends on a high at Goodwood

Another 12,000 sell-out crowd – the third in three weeks – lapped up bright sunshine, absorbing racing and a storming set by Radio 1 and MTV’s Zane Lowe.

It was the fourth year of Goodwood’s Three Friday Nights and only some problems suffered on this year’s opening night, when transport issues and some public disorder lcast a shdow over things, stopped this season’s series being hailed as clearly the best yet.

Racecourse MD Adam Waterworth said: “Last Friday was the busiest of this year’s events and we felt it went really well.

“Thousands of people were in from the start of the racing and we had beautiful weather.

“The racing remains a very important part of what we put on during the Friday nights and I felt we put on some good racing across the three nights this year.

“We always have a class-three handicap on each card and the racing has been competitive. There were a series of close finishes on Friday and that always lifts the atmopshere and helps the whole crowd get into the spirit of it.”

There’s no racing at Goodwood now until Glorious gets under way on Tuesday, July 29.
