Angmering golfers have finals in their sights

THE Angmering School’s Golf Academy are well placed in making the British Colleges national finals after recent success at Worthing Golf Club.

In the latest round of the Collegiate tour, held last Thursday, Angmering put in a number of good displays to set themselves in good stead to make the finals at Princes Golf Club in April.

There are now two rounds left to play, one of which is at the players’ home club, Ham Manor.

In difficult conditions, Josh Glossop’s 78 was the joint second best round of the day, with Jack Halsey making up for a tough opening nine holes to par the back nine and record a 79 and fourth spot.

Toby Redman and Elodie-Jane Yates both recorded solid mid-80 rounds but the round of the day for Angmering came from 13-handicapper Harry Worner.

His gross 80, net 67, was the low net score of the day by six shots and his gross score helped Angmering secure not just first place on net scores, but also first place in the gross score competition.

The team had spent half-term warm weather training at the La Cala resort, in Spain, which clearly paid off.

The school are looking to recruit players into the sixth form for September. Anyone interested can contact Mr Yates at [email protected]
