Hastings sailors dominate open meet

A DECENT, albeit predominantly home-based, fleet of 29 boats rolled out onto the water for the Topper, Magno and Miracle Open Meeting hosted by Hastings & St Leonards Sailing Club.

What outside interest there was came from neighbours Bexhill who occupied the top four positions among a youthful Topper class, in which 14 of the 17 competitors were juniors.

But, despite the lack of visitors, all three classes were keenly-contested, particularly among the Magnos, with the leading positions bearing little similarity from one race to the next. And the turn-out was somewhat greater than the race attracted 12 months ago, probably aided by the favourable weather conditions.
