Kicking off in a positive way

YOUNG people in Littlehampton are being given a unique opportunity to stay off the streets by joining a street football programme.

Brighton and Hove Albion football coaches are teaming up with youth workers each week to provide a safe environment for young people to learn new skills.

The project, which is held each Wednesday at the Flintstone Centre in Littlehampton, is being funded by the Arun Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership.

The main aims of the project are to encourage young people to engage in a sporting activity and develop skills.

Youth workers are also on hand to talk with them and offer support and guidance.

Around 30 youngsters aged between 11 and 19 take part in the organised sessions between 6pm and 8pm.

As well as taking part in training and skills sessions, they also compete in a five-a-side mini-league each week, with each team playing twice.
