Late equaliser denies United

BEXHILL United had to settle for a 1-1 draw away to Ifield after conceding an equaliser in the final minute of added time.

An incredible eight minutes of injury time had been added when United failed to clear their lines and Hatton headed home from close range.

In the aftermath of the goal United substitute Ray Bage and an opponent were both given their marching orders, apparently for their roles in a frank exchange of opinion.

United took the lead on 34 minutes when Alex Page reacted quickest to a Guy Bentley centre to power home a header.

The visitors should have doubled their lead in the second half but Sam Rimmer saw his penalty saved.

The point leaves Len Watkins' side in fifth place in the Sussex Third Division.

United visit third-placed Haywards Heath Town on Saturday February1.
