Lewes trainer's outstanding feat
Lewes trainer Suzy Smith pulled off another outstanding training feat when sending out one-eyed Material World to finish a close third in the Grade Three hurdle race at Sandown on Saturday afternoon.
The 50-1 shot was well out of the handicap and had not run since finishing second at Plumpton in October 2004.
It was all credit to her trainer that the horse was back to fitness and was prominent throughout the raced, as well as tackling a highly competitive big field- not ideal for a horse with vision limitations.
Local jockey Colin Bolger was on board and gave the horse an excellent ride to reward each way backers.
