MORE MISERY FOR GOLDS

EVERY County League match is an uphill battle for beleaguered bottom team Littlehampton at the moment.

So the last thing they needed at Church Road on Saturday was a bad injury to lively striker Steve Davies.

Early on in the attempt to notch their first league win of the season, Davies was the victim of a heavy challenge from Dave Hazelgrove.

After lengthy treatment on the touchline, he was replaced by Richie Hellen in the 22nd minute and Hellen's arrival was just seconds after a cross from Mark Jackson had produced a goal from Roger Moore.

It snuffed out Golds' promising start and led to Chichester dominating the rest of the half and putting all three points in the bag.
