Perfect 10 for Saxons

South Saxons played some of their best hockey of the season as they won 10-1 at home to Southwick on Saturday.

It was the third time Saxons have hit double figures in South Hockey League Sussex Area - Division One this term and it came against a team they drew with in the reverse fixture.

With fortune on their side for a change of late, Saxons were in front after barely 60 seconds and were three-up after 10 minutes en route to a 6-1 half time lead. They added four more in the second period.

Dave Draper ended up with four goals - three of them from superbly executed drag flicks - man of the match Jamie Busbridge scored a hat-trick, Rob Whitehouse bagged a brace and Dan Burnett rifled home the other.

A full report and reaction will appear in Friday’s Hastings Observer.
