Chichester rugby lads are victorious at the Vectis

CHICHESTER RFC under-tens finished a record-breaking season by winning the annual Vectis rugby festival for the third year running.

The tournament draws teams from far and wide but highly competitive games against Beckenham, Edenbridge and Dorking resulted in Chichester scoring 14 tries without conceding any.

This theme carried on through to the semi-finals where a huge and aggressive Bracknell team were beaten in every element of the game.

The final against Beccehamians was tight and tense but decided by a try from Drayson after devastating interplay involving the whole team.

All day, Hutchinson, Turner and Knight caused chaos in the scrum, stealing ball after ball at the breakdown.

Haydon sniped and harried, feeding the elusive Drayson, who danced and weaved to create space for Butlin, Phillips and Fowler. The speed kings on the wings were Kay, Augustin and Durieu-Lewis.

In all, 19 tries were scored without one conceded, a tournament record. The squad worked superbly together to achieve something that will be hard to beat.
