ROCKS REVIEW: Defender out of vital clash - but Rocks looking forward to it

James Crane will miss the Rocks' crucial clash with Leatherhead at Nyewood Lane on Tuesday night - and two other key players are out for the season.

Crane misses the second-versus-fourth encounter because of a holiday, and the Rocks have announced Dan Beck (knee) and James Fraser (shoulder) will not feature again in this campaign.

But joint boss Jamie Howell says they believe they have a good-enough squad left to do well against the Tanners this week and in the remaining five games of the season.

This is the Rocks’ game in hand over Met Police, who are one point ahead of them at the top. Leatherhead are the division’s form side and are just seven points behind the Rocks and a point behind third-placed Whitehawk.

Crane’s absence is likely to mean a recall for Matt Whitehead at left-back, with Jon Marzetti continuing at right-back.

Otherwise, there won’t be too many changes from the side who drew at Met Police on Saturday, although they will add teenage keeper Josh James to the bench as cover.

Conor Wilkins is likely to continue in midfield after coming back into the Rocks team against the Met.

Howell said: “We’re looking forward to the game. Leatherhead are a dangerous team who have hit form at the right time and will probably feel they have nothing to lose.

“But if they have their eye on finishing first, they probably need to win this more than we do.”

One brighter bit of news on the injury front is that Perry Ryan will have an X-ray on his hairline wrist fracture next week and may be available after that.

Kick-off against Leatherhead is at 7.45pm and we will have a full report on this website on Tuesday night.
