Why Chichester rugby chiefs are assembling a Magnificent Seven

Chichester RFC are pressing ahead with the expansion of their clubhouse - much needed to support their growing numbers.

They now have five senior teams and more than 400 mini and junior players, and they are looking for some major sponsors to help the project become a success.

Club president Gareth Webb told the Observer: “We are looking for local people and businesses to donate what they can towards our goal of providing an extension.

“We will do most the finishing of the building ourselves but the construction demands a lot of expensive skilled workmen and materials and we estimate the full price cost of the extension will be £250,000, but this does account for any contributory donations of services and materials.

“On top of applications grants from large sports bodies and local trusts, we are looking to raise the majority of the funding ourselves.

“We are looking for a “Magnificent 7” group of donors who can provide £20k each towards the building - we have three spaces to go.

“We are also looking to our sponsors, vice-presidents, members and supporters to donate or lend what they can - not just cash, but materials, services, and their skills.

“Those who donate will not only be part of creation of magnificent facility available for the sports and local community; but can have their family’s name commemorated in Chichester RFC clubhouse for the life of the building.”
