Sidley back in the old routine

SIDLEY United returned to winning ways on Saturday with a 4-0 win at home to Redhill.

The hosts gradually took control after an early scare that saw Glen Barlow hit straight at the keeper from close range.

Russell Eldridge and Owen Ball were both causing problems down the flanks but it was new signing Graham Morris who finally broke the deadlock, hitting a crisp shot from outside the area past keeper Tony Reynold.

Ball made it 2-0 shortly after half time, picking up a rebound from Adam Day s shot and smashing home.

Veteran striker Peter Heritage took advantage of a generous linesman to steal a few yards and promptly rounded the keeper and a recovering defender before slipping the ball into an open net.

But goal of the day went to substitute Chris Scott. Juggling the ball in the penalty area, he confused his opponents and with a single fluid movement he flicked the ball up again, turned and volleyed past the bemused Reynold.
