Tone Zoners coast to personal-best times

IT was a weekend of coastal half marathons and personal bests as Bognor Tone Zone Runners raced at the ever-popular Brighton Half Marathon and the Portsmouth equivalent.

To highlight the effect of training at the club, almost everyone who ran the Portsmouth event claimed a PB – an amazing achievement.

Daniel Croshwaite was first home for the club in 1hr 44min 03sec in perfect running conditions.

In Brighton, Simon Gill finished in an astounding 1.13.54, coming 16th overall from a field of almost 8,000 runners.

Jack Penfold paced the race with Danny Mahoney, but pulled away from Mahoney in the final few miles. Both managed their aim of sub-1.30.

PBs were secured by Mark Edwards, Neil Strudwick, Carolyn Stapely, Sam Miles, Amanda Shepheard and Jacqui Salt, showing how a structured training programme can improve performance.
