TRIO GAIN COACH AWARD

LOCAL students Chantelle Bashford, Susan Hoare and Jess Grimson achieved their Level 1 Volleyball Coach Award with the assistance of a scholarship from Worthing Borough Council.

They learned to play volleyball at Durrington High School and represent Ashcombe Volleyball Club in local and national leagues as well as cup competitions.

Chantelle is a student at Worthing College, where she is taking A-levels, and hopes to gain a place at Chichester College to become a junior school teacher and coach volleyball in schools.

Jess and Susan are following the BTEC sports course at Chichester College and hope to follow careers involving sport or sports therapy.

They are also the current Under- 16 National Beach Champions and national inter-regional beach champions.

All three are involved in Ashcombe's junior development programme and last year reached the finals of the Under-16 National Volleyball Championships.
