Vear return brings it to three of five

STEVE VEAR will be back. Worthing Thunder's basketball co-captain with James Brame will playmake their defence of the English League title. His signing for Thunder means three of their starting five have returned.

Surrey-based Vear, local center Pat Bates and American guard Alfredo Ott are signed and sealed. Forward Jonathan Woods will not be back but has been replaced in the second import slot by Hank Rivers, the nephew of ex-Los Angeles Lakers star David Rivers), while English guard Stephen Gayle has yet to finalise plans.

Assistant Worthing Thunder coach Alan Sweetman-Hicks commented: "Steve's leadership on court was the bedrock of our championship season. People forget he is only 23. His best years are ahead of him and I'm looking forward to seeing him develop even further."
