The event beat the unusually-wet winter and was voted a major success – and it was the men’s and women’s race winners who led the praise. The race has become one of the biggest in the south and Chichester Priory Rotary Club, who organise the contest, said they were delighted with the success of the day and felt the race was run and supported in fine spirit by everyone involved.

Bristol and West AC ace Phil Wylie won the main race in 30min 23sec in his first attempt at the course.

Equally enthusiastic about the event and the course was women’s winner Charlotte Purdue, a GB international who runs for Aldershot, Farnham and District AC. “It’s a great event, really well-organised and I like coming here,” she said after her 33.37 finish.
